D.W. (Bill) Allen has worked with and for some of Australia's most important companies since his graduation from Sydney University where his studies specialised in human resources and customer relations. Bill also had a distinguished Naval career, he is married with three sons and several grandchildren, and resides in Balgowlah.
Bill became joint Managing Director and Director of Operations for Travelodge,
Australia's largest motel operator. Bill’s major responsibilities included
new property development, joint ventures with international financiers, formulation
of short and long term marketing strategies and day-to-day operational control
of facilities located in Australia, NZ, PNG, Fiji, Tahiti, Japan and the USA.
From Travelodge, Bill then joined Tooth and Co Limited as head of their
Leisure Division. He was subsequently appointed an Executive Director of the
parent company and its subsidiaries and associates including the newly formed
d'Albora Marinas Pty Ltd. In these early stages he was responsible for
establishing the company’s development plan and the strategies to achieve
success.
After the Adsteam involvement, Tooth and Co. sold their interests (their
focus had changed) Bill however was able to continue his association as a permanent
Management Consultant to d'Albora Marinas Pty Ltd until the take over
by a Macquarie Bank associate in 2001.
Bill has worked side by side with Michael Jarvin since 1979 and Darrell Barnett
since 1995. Bill is a shareholder of Advanced Marina Management Pty Ltd
[ACN 102 228 268] and active day to day with the AMM Team.
Bill has long been a keen and active yachtsman/boat owner and sails most weekends.
As a member of one of Sydney's premier yacht clubs he is on the Sailing Committee,
the Protest Panel and is the Club's delegate to the Y.A. of NSW's Special Regulations
Committee (Safety Issues).
Bill’s forte is his detailed understanding of human nature and his knowledge
of the requirements needed to be a successful manager. His experience in the
marina and associated leisure industries is extensive and he has helped nurture
and develop many of the successful managers and operatives at d'Albora Marinas
and other personnel in today’s marine industry.
